One of the first things University of Houston-Clear Lake Professor of Counseling Cheryl Sawyer will insist when she is called in after a tragedy is that it is not about her – it is about the mental well-being of the victims and those who knew the victims. After hearing about the shooting at Santa Fe High School, Sawyer knew there would be a need and she reached out her school connections and immediately put her lifetime work into action.

Members of the University of Houston-Clear Lake Quality Enhancement Program Leadership Team celebrated the end of its year with a reception in December. During the event, UH-Clear Lake President Ira K. Blake recognized university faculty members who have completed the Quality Enhancement Program professional development workshops, developed Applied Critical Thinking-endorsed syllabi, taught the Applied Critical Thinking course and submitted an assessment to the university’s Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
