Fernanda Oda came to the United States from Brazil to study behavior analysis at University of Houston-Clear Lake because she had heard it was one of the best programs in the country. Now equipped with her Master of Arts in Behavior Analysis, Oda said she feels more than prepared to begin her doctoral program at the University of Kansas in Lawrence this fall.

Non-traditional, first-generation student graduates with support of prof

Nora Arriaga came to the United States as a young bride from Mexico in 1993. She did not speak much English, and she took a long time away from her education to raise her five children. After her children’s school librarian inspired to improve her English and begin a career teaching children, she returned to school, became proficient in English and will be walking across the stage this weekend to receive her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with an EC-6 Bilingual Supplement from University of Houston-Clear Lake.
Local credit union continues tradition of giving to UHCL autism center

Each year, employees at Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union make a special effort to support local education. GCEFCU has been a longstanding partner and sponsor of University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities and its outreaches.
