Houston Robotics & AI Day

Area educators, engineers and students gathered at University of Houston-Clear Lake for the Houston Robotics and AI Day on Friday, July 21 for presentations and demonstrations of the latest research and applications of robotics and artificial-intelligence technology. The seminar was sponsored by the Bridges to STEM Careers Club, a regional partnership of UH-Clear Lake and San Jacinto College alongside industry and government partners, primarily funded by the National Science Foundation. UHCL's Center for Robotics Software hosted the event. Pictured is Miguel Rosales, who graduated from UHCL in the fall of 2017 with a bachelor's degree in computer science. He was accepted to University of Houston's doctorate program in computer science, where he intends to concentrate on medical robotics. With him is San Jacinto College's programmable Meccano robot, designed for beginners interested in robotics. The Bridges to STEM Careers Club works collaboratively with K-12 schools, institutes of higher education, industry partners, and government agencies to create meaningful opportunities throughout the local and scientific communities.
