Discover the value of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at “Launching Nursing Careers to New Heights” Saturday, Aug. 4, at University of Houston-Clear Lake Pearland Campus, 1200 Pearland Parkway, Pearland, 77581. The conference will take place 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
“Choosing nursing as a career provides a lifetime of wonderful opportunities to make a difference in the lives of our communities,” said UH-Clear Lake RN-to-BSN Program Director and Assistant Professor of Nursing Karen Alexander. “This conference will share the many ways current and future nursing students can impact lives.”
During the conference, participants will be able to attend workshops that cover personal development and leadership, mentorship in nursing and life as a nursing student. Representatives from Memorial Hermann, Encompass Health and HCA Gulf Coast Division Hospitals will be on hand to discuss career opportunities.
Tina Cuellar, a UHCL adjunct professor of nursing and Elsevier Nursing and Health Education director of curriculum review and testing, will be the keynote speaker sharing her insights into the nursing profession. She will also present information that will benefit those pursuing careers as a healthcare professional.
The National Academy of Medicine, formerly known as the Institute of Medicine, issued a recommendation in 2010 that 80 percent of registered nurses have their Bachelor of Science in Nursing by 2020. Erica Chance, the Coordinator of Enrollment, will be at the conference to answer questions about the UHCL RN-to-BSN program. Those who apply for the program the day of the conference will have their $45 application fee waived.
