Police department sets goal on coveted accreditation, community safety

Police Sgt. Christina Hux and officer Kelly Reid mingle with assessor Patrick Wasley, retired police chief of the California State-San Francisco Police Department during a visit from a team of assessors from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators on Feb. 5. Assessors were on campus to evaluate UHCL Police Department’s procedures, polices, management, operation and support services as part of the process for accreditation, a coveted recognition among campus public safety professionals. The accreditation would certify the police department is doing its best to keep the university and community safe for the community. UHCL faculty and staff also attended to share their thoughts with the team. After its visit, the team will report to IACLEA, which will decide on accreditation.
