Starting June 5, University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Environmental Institute of Houston offers day, half-day and evening camps featuring nature walks, bird-watching, fishing, dip-netting, games and more as first- through eighth-grade students learn about the environment and their place in it.

Watch one the biggest superhero blockbusters of the year Saturday, June 9 at 7 p.m. in the Student Services and Classroom Building Lecture Hall at University of Houston-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd, Houston.
“Black Panther” follows the story of T’Challa, king of the African nation of Wakanda. However, his claim to the throne is challenged by a vengeful outsider. Admission to the film is free for students with a UHCL Student ID and $4 for all others. Parking is free and available in Visitor Lot D.
Conquer the PCAT to be ready for pharmacy school with this prep course taught at University of Houston-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston. The course, which meets June 9-24 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sundays 9 a.m. – noon, covers areas of chemistry, biochemistry, biology, reading comprehension and the essay portion of the exam.

University of Houston-Clear Lake Assistant Professor of History Neal Dugre has been awarded the 2017 Walter Muir Whitehill Prize in Early American History for an article published in one of his areas of expertise: 17th century New England.
The Whitehill Prize is among the most prestigious article awards in American history, and is given by the Colonial Society of Massachusetts, which supports research and students in New England history.
Dugre’s article, “Repairing the Breach: Puritan Expansion, Commonwealth Formation, and the Origins of the United Colonies of New England, 1630-1643,” discusses ways in which the New England Puritans reformed their approach to government in order to better meet the practical challenges facing their young and rapidly growing colonies. He won $2,500 for the award, and his article will publish in New England Quarterly in September 2018.
