University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Friday Morning Continuing Education presents its summer miniseries in July. Tailored for the appetites of life-long learners, topics vary week-to-week and are presented by experts in their subjects. The Friday programs feature two separate sessions, one at 9 a.m. and another at 11 a.m. All sessions are held at UH-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston. While registration is required, residency, age, academic history, and student status do not apply.

Members pay a one-time membership fee for $12 for the summer miniseries and $18 for each class. The membership fee includes class materials, borrowing privileges at the UHCL library and discounts at the UHCL Bookstore and Patio Café. Prospective University of Houston-Clear Lake students and their families are invited to tour UH-Clear Lake’s 524-acre campus in a one-hour walking tour led by current UH-Clear Lake students. Attendees will also receive information about applying to the university. Featured stops on the tour include Alfred R. Neumann Library, the UHCL Art Gallery, and natural features such as Potter Pond and Horsepen Bayou. Learn how to successfully cope with organizational change and learn techniques to define the change process, communication and resolving conflict in the course, “Skillfully Managing Change and Conflict” as part of the Management and Leadership Certificate Program at University of Houston-Clear Lake.
The course, offered by the Center for Executive Education, is geared toward aspiring or new supervisors, and leaders who wish to gain new knowledge for today’s work environment. Come see “Disobedience” on Movie Night July 14, 7 p.m. in the Student Services and Classroom Building Lecture Hall at University of Houston-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston. A woman returns to the religious community that shunned her, rekindling a forbidden relationship. The characters then explore themes of passion, self-awareness and freedom of choice. The film is rated R.
Admission to the film is free for students with a UHCL Student ID and $4 for all others. Parking is free and available in Visit Lot D.
Returning students at University of Houston-Clear Lake can register for fall courses in open registration through Aug. 24. Freshmen students must attend an orientation before registering for courses. Help maintain the beauty of the University of Houston-Clear Lake campus by volunteering at Habitat Work Days each Tuesday morning in July with the Environmental Institute of Houston. UH-Clear Lake is located at 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston. Helpers should meet at 9 a.m. at the North Annex Office, located inside Entrance 3 off of Middlebrook Drive.
