Habitat Work Days at UHCL
Help maintain the beauty of the University of Houston-Clear Lake campus by volunteering
at Habitat Work Days each Tuesday morning with the Environmental Institute of Houston
at 9 a.m. in the North Office Annex, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston. Volunteers assist
in upkeep, including clearing paths, cleaning the pond and other conservation tasks.

UH-Clear Lake fall open registration
Returning students at University of Houston-Clear Lake can register for fall courses
in open registration. Open registration for fall runs through Aug. 24 with late registration
from Aug. 25 – Sept. 4. Freshmen students must attend an orientation before registering
for courses.

CLASP Speaker Series begins 2018-19 season
Clear Lake Association of Senior Programs is an outreach initiative of University
of Houston-Clear Lake created to encourage life-long learning through monthly presentations
and engage community members of all ages in a wide variety of topics.
The first presentation of the 2018-19 season takes place Sept. 6 and is entitled “The
Symbiotic Relationship Between Exercise and Nutrition,” given by UHCL’s Associate
Professor of Exercise and Health Sciences William Amonette.
Presentations are Thursdays from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Garden Room of the Bayou Building,
2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston. Parking and admission is free.
Mr. Rogers movie kicks off UHCL film series
Join us for an intimate look at everyone’s favorite neighbor, Mister Fred Rogers.
“Won’t You Be My Neighbor,” presented as the first film in UH-Clear Lake’s 2018-19
Film and Speaker Series, will be shown Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Student
Services and Classroom Building Lecture Hall.
The movie is the portrait of a man whom we think we all know, taking us beyond the
zip-up cardigans and the land of make-believe, and into the heart of a creative genius
who inspired generations of children with compassion and imagination.
Speakers after the movie are Beth Hentges and Christine Walthers, both professors
in UHCL’s Department of Psychology. Admission is free with UHCL student ID, all others
$4. Parking is free in the Visitor Lot.
Welcome Back Bash to be held in new Rec and Wellness Center
Celebrate the start of University of Houston-Clear Lake’s fall semester at Welcome
Back Bash, Aug. 30, 5-8 p.m. The event is hosted by UHCL Orientation and New Student
Programs and the UHCL Alumni Association.
For the first time, the celebration will be held in UHCL’s new 82,000-square-foot
Recreation and Wellness Center, where attendees can get a glimpse of the facility’s
features. Festivities include food, games, giveaways, a photo booth, music and more.
