Teachers can learn effective classroom management
Teachers can discover the key to making classroom systems work effectively in course,
“Effective Classroom Management Strategies,” hosted by University of Houston-Clear
Lake’s Center for Educational Programs.
The professional development course is 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 in room
1310.05 of the Arbor Building, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston. Experienced educator
Tonya Chevalier will tackle the pitfalls that make establishing management systems
frustrating. Attendees will have the opportunity to create systems through collaboration
with peers and begin implementing these systems immediately in their classrooms.
The fee for this session is $85. Space is limited to 25 participants. Attendees can

Autism Speaker Series: understanding dual diagnoses
Learn tips and best practices for caring for children with dual diagnoses of autism
and ADHD or anxiety from psychologist Leandra Berry in the first lecture of the 2018-19
Autism Speaker Series.
The lecture is Sept. 8, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Bayou Building Garden Room
at University of Houston-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.
Hosted by the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, the lectures are free

Movie Night at UHCL: ‘Won’t You Be My Neighbor’
We all know the zip-up cardigan and kind smile of Fred Rogers. Join us for Movie Night,
Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at University of Houston-Clear Lake when the film, “Won’t You Be
My Neighbor” will be presented in the Lecture Hall in the Student Services and Classroom
Building, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.
The emotional documentary goes beyond the man we all knew on screen to tell us more
about the creative genius who inspired generations of young children. After the screening,
psychology professors Beth Hentges and Christine Walthers will lead a discussion on
the film’s central themes. Admission is free with a UHCL student ID and $4 for all
others. Free parking is available in student lot D.
Center for Executive Education—GMAT Review Course
Gain an edge on the Graduate Management Admission Test or GMAT with a preparation
course from University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Center for Executive Education. Classes
take place Saturdays, Sept. 8-29, from 8 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
Students will tackle each session of the course in four structured sessions that cover
the test format and test-taking strategies as well as in-depth lessons on each section
of the test including critical reasoning, analytical writing, problem solving and
reasoning.
The fee is $549, which includes the textbook and instructional materials. Discounts
