Friday Morning Continuing Education at UHCL
Learn more about the social, religious and cultural changes currently taking place
in Turkey. On April 6 at 9 a.m. Assistant Professor of History Cengiz Sisman will
present “Turkey: The Emergence of the First Secular Muslim Country,” in the Garden
Room of the Bayou Building, University of Houston-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd.,
Houston. Members pay a one-time membership fee for $26 and $18 for each class. The
membership fee includes class materials, borrowing privileges at the UHCL library
and discounts at the UHCL Bookstore and Patio Café. Parking permits are available

Art School for Children and Young Adults
Students will express their creativity while learning about culture, history in science
in these interactive art classes at UHCL. Elementary age classes will focus on crating
original artwork using clay, paint, pastels, markers and crayons for “The Art of Space.”
Advanced students in grades 4-6 will create pixel origami sculpture, trading cards,
game pieces and game boards to create their own game. Students in grades in 6-12 can
choose to work with mixed media or 2-D drawing and painting. Spots are available
for students, ages 3½ to high school. Fees range from $100 to $130 per student. Contact

Early registration in April for UHCL May mini-session
Early registration is April 9-19 for University of Houston Clear Lake’s May mini-session
and summer registration. Open registration for the mini-session begins April 20 and
ends the first day of class, May 14. Fee payment deadline for the mini-session is
noon May 15.

Hands-on cybersecurity workshop for high school juniors, seniors
High school juniors and seniors can enroll now to gain hands-on experience with network
configuration, Linux, vulnerabilities scanning and more in University of Houston-Clear
Lake Cyber Security Institute’s summer day camp June 4-7. Seating is limited.
Cyber Security Summer Camp participants will explore the world of cybersecurity through
speakers, activities and games. Attendants will interact with business and academic
professionals from: Lockheed Martin, FBI Cyber Squad, UHCL Information Technology,
Sam Houston State University Digital Forensics Team, Chevron Information Technology
Cyber Intelligence Center and NASA Johnson Space Center.
Early bird registration is $250 through April 16. Registration after April 16 is $300.
