Seminar in Women’s and Gender Studies
Explore facets of women’s and gender studies – including feminism, disability, human
rights, activism, domestic violence, immigration and more – in a series of lectures
led by faculty from University of Houston-Clear Lake’s College of Human Sciences and
Humanities. The last lecture in this series takes place Oct. 25, 4-5:30 p.m. in the
Bayou Building’s Alfred R. Neumann Library, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.
This lecture will offer a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with faculty
outside of the classroom and learn the some of the same material taught to UHCL students.
The series is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided. For more

Autism Speaker Series: ABA assessments for home, classroom
Educators, parents and professionals are invited to learn more about assessing and
treating behavioral difficulties for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities
in a free lecture by Kyle Dawson, third-year graduate student in behavioral analysis.
The talk is Oct. 28, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in room 1510 of the University of Houston-Clear
Lake Bayou Building, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.
The lecture is part of the Autism Speaker Series, coordinated by UH-Clear Lake’s Center
for Autism and Developmental. Lectures are free to the public although registration

Domestic Violence Awareness Month resource fair at UHCL
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the Office of Human Resources at
University of Houston-Clear Lake and the UH-Clear Lake Police Department have partnered
to present a resource fair on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 3- 6 p.m. in Atrium I of the Bayou
Building, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.
Co-sponsored by Counseling Services, Student Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and
the Dean of Students Office, the fair will feature information and/or representatives
from several community partners, including Bay Area Turning Point, The Bridge Over
Troubled Waters, Resource and Crisis Center of Galveston County, and the Houston Area
Women’s Center.
UHCL’s on-campus resources, including Counseling Services, Health Services, Dean of
Students Office, and campus police will also be available to provide information and
support to student, faculty, staff and community.

Seminar: ‘Abuse in Later Life’ at UHCL Pearland Campus
Elder abuse is defined as an intentional act, or a failure to act that causes or creates
a risk or harm to an older adult. This eight-hour, multidiscipline training and collaboration
seminar takes place Nov. 3, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at University of Houston-Clear Lake Pearland
Campus and is hosted by UH-Clear Lake’s College of Human Sciences and Humanities.
The seminar affords eight hours of CEUs for LPCs, LMFTs, LMSW, RNs and law enforcement
and attendees will receive a certificate upon completion. The $200 fee covers materials,
CEUS, certificate of completion, light breakfast and snacks. Lunch is provided.
