UHCL recognizes CCISD for 70th anniversary

University of Houston-Clear Lake President Ira K. Blake highlighted the many ways
the university has partnered with the Clear Creek Independent School District during
a special presentation at the CCISD School Board meeting in May. Through the university’s
Art School for Children and Young Adults, Center for Educational Programs, Environmental Institute of Houston as well as the Professional Development Laboratory School at CCISD’s McWhirter Elementary School, UH-Clear Lake and CCISD have partnered together
to educate leaders. During the meeting, President Blake and university Provost and
Senior Vice President Steven J. Berberich presented the board with a proclamation,
in addition to purchasing a commemorative brick for the CCISD Challenger Stadium.
Others present at the event were members of the university’s administrative team that
includes College of Business Dean Edward R. Waller, College of Education interim Associate
Dean Lillian McEnery, College of Human Sciences and Humanities Dean Rick J. Short
and College of Science and Engineering interim Dean Ju H. Kim.
