Like many people throughout the country, University of Houston-Clear Lake employees are adjusting to working remotely, attending online meetings and sifting through new challenges presented by not being in an office. Human Capital Advancement Manager Esther Herrera understands the obstacles and also saw it as an opportunity for employees.

UHCL operations to remain online through April 30

In response to Harris County’s extension of the Stay at Home orders, University of Houston-Clear Lake will operate online through April 30. This includes UH-Clear Lake Pearland, UHCL Texas Medical Center and other off-site teaching locations. UHCL moved all spring semester classes online beginning March 23, with university staff being advised to telecommute.

Nurse relicensing program helps meet acute need in hospitals

Registered nurses whose licenses have lapsed have been able to take the re-entry courses mandated by the Texas Board of Nursing at University of Houston-Clear Lake since last summer. Just as the demand for highly skilled, licensed nurses has risen sharply due to the COVID-19 pandemic, eight nurses have completed UH-Clear Lake’s Continuing Education program and are ready to join the workforce immediately.
