About 40 Warhammer 40K enthusiasts and 150 other gamers gathered hours at University of Houston-Clear Lake for the Holiday Gaming Thing and Warhammer 40K Rise of the Empire Grand Tournament in December. Associate Professor of Psychology Steven Sutherland, director for the Serious Games and Simulations degree program, said the event was about much more than playing games.

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $4,036,338 grant to University of Houston-Clear Lake targeting Hispanic/Latino/a/x and other low-income students in a STEM-related degree program.
