Hardik Jani always knew he wanted to work in public health and help make lifesaving medicines. After graduating from University of Houston-Clear Lake with his Master of Science in Biotechnology, he began a career that led him to Moderna to help develop the COVID vaccine.

Jefferies earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering in 2019 and has never second-guessed his decision to transfer to UHCL.

About 40 Warhammer 40K enthusiasts and 150 other gamers gathered hours at University of Houston-Clear Lake for the Holiday Gaming Thing and Warhammer 40K Rise of the Empire Grand Tournament in December. Over 1,000 University of Houston-Clear Lake fall 2021 graduates will receive their degrees and be recognized during an in-person commencement ceremony on Dec. 12 at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Minute Maid Park. Of those, 645 will be recognized for receiving their undergraduate degrees, and 363 will receive their graduate degrees.

Pathways to STEM Careers grant increased, extended

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $4,036,338 grant to University of Houston-Clear Lake targeting Hispanic/Latino/a/x and other low-income students in a STEM-related degree program. This new project builds upon the work of the "Pathways to STEM Careers" grant originally awarded in 2016 for about $3.7 million.

Barrios Technology has awarded University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering Ariful Bhuiyan a fellowship that will continue his ongoing research in the field of biomechanics. His current work focuses on evaluating and improving knee replacement devices, which are used to treat osteoarthritis in the knee.
