Hawk Launch builds community, helps students transition to college

Before she attended the Hawk Launch at University of Houston-Clear Lake, Brianna Pacheco thought she would probably go to classes during the day and live at home. The two-day extended orientation for new students included an overnight stay at Hunter Residence Hall, and the engaging experience helped her decide to live on campus.
Science and engineering alumni gathering spotlights success

Although the COVID-19 pandemic caused many high school and college students to delay their college plans, the College of Science and Engineering at University of Houston-Clear Lake saw an overall 12% increase in enrollment from fall 2019 to fall 2021 — when most other colleges around the country were experiencing record enrollment declines.

A group of six University of Houston-Clear Lake art education students, many of Hispanic descent, combined their talents to create a larger-than-life mural of the iconic Mexican painter Frida Kahlo in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The mural will be on display Sept. 29-Oct. 15.

Mayor Turner names UHCL prof chair of inaugural Women's Commission

Two universities collaborate: Kenyan students begin studies at UHCL

University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Education Abroad and Scholar Services has launched its inaugural exchange program through the U.S. Department of State, hosting two students from United States International University Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. In addition to exchange programs, the two universities also plan to collaborate on research.
