In a national intercollegiate competition for Industrial/Organizational psychology graduate students, University of Houston-Clear Lake’s team, consisting of Team Captain Daryl Thong, Ana Florencia Garcia and Ifeoluwa Bada came in second place. Program Director and Associate Professor Alex Milam said their showing was all the more notable because of the 10 teams competing.

Prof adapts CPR certification skills test to online, students certify

When Assistant Professor of Public Health Isabelle Kusters heard that the University of Houston-Clear Lake might take classes online because of the COVID-19 virus, she needed to make changes. Although the Health, Emergency Care, and First Aid class begins in an online format, it would have culminated in an in-person skills test and certification.
UHCL seeks to ease students’ financial burdens during pandemic

University of Houston-Clear Lake will offer students numerous financial opportunities to help them continue their education. Students signing up for summer sessions will have certain fees credited back to their accounts. The federally-supported CARES Act recently provided UH-Clear Lake more than $5.5 million to cover expenses related to disruptions resulting from the pandemic.

Zambian Fulbright scholar discusses journalism, culture at UHCL

Computer engineering students, prof, win three prestigious IEEE awards

For the fourth time, students won the Outstanding Student Small Branch Award for their region. Additionally, the university was awarded the Outstanding Small Section Award and the Outstanding Individual Achievement Award.
Nurse believes his profession is science and art, completes degree at UHCL

William Blalock became a registered nurse last year and quickly decided that he’d like to complete his bachelor of science in nursing degree. He enrolled in classes at University of Houston-Clear Lake Pearland campus and in May, he will receive his diploma as well as a substantial raise in salary.
UHCL celebrates graduates, holds virtual ceremony

More than 1,200 University of Houston-Clear Lake Hawks applied to graduate this May. Like other colleges and universities, University of Houston-Clear Lake Commencement Ceremonies will be a slightly different experience this year. The ceremony, originally scheduled for May 17 at NRG Arena, will be held virtually in July.
