UHCL alumnus feels trained, prepared for career as hospital CEO

Seton Medical Center Harker Heights in Texas has a new CEO. Patrick Swindle, who completed his Master of Health Administration from University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2011, said the training he received from his professors prepared him well to do the job. He appreciated learning from professors who had been hospital executives themselves.

Public education in the U.S. is known to have a persistent, well-documented problem: there’s a fairly significant achievement gap between white students and students of color. University of Houston-Clear Lake Distinguished Alumnus Preston Johnson Jr., grew up as a young African-American in a small town near Waco. It was difficult to envision a future where he was competing in college against students from bigger schools who had more advantages.

The event, to be held Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 2-3:30 p.m. is comprised of seven experts in fields including technology, software engineering, psychology and digital media.
