Margo Sikes received her first bachelor’s degree in interactive arts, but decided to change her career path. As she prepares to receive her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from University of Houston-Clear Lake, she knows she made the right choice. She has a job already waiting for her with Leidos, a NASA contractor.

Taniya Philip received her bachelor of science in biological science with pre-health specialization in 2018 from University of Houston-Clear Lake, and went to work at University of Texas Medical Branch as a medical scribe. UHCL alumna, former NASA engineer to lead Common Reader discussion

University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Common Reader Program is launching its first event of the semester, entitled “A Conversation with Spare Parts’ Lisa Spence and Special Guests” on March 3 from 12-1:30 p.m. in the Forest Room. The book “Spare Parts: Four Undocumented Teenagers, One Ugly Robot, and the Battle for the American Dream” by Joshua Davis, is this year’s Common Reader selection with the goal of creating community connections among students, as well as between them and their professors.
