Bayou Theater offers season package for new season, 18 performances across all genres

With almost twice as many outstanding performances to offer Clear Lake theater-lovers
this season than last, the Bayou Theater at University of Houston-Clear Lake is gearing
up for a brand new season that covers almost all musical genres. “There are some great
benefits we’re offering season pass buyers this year,” said Bayou Theater Managing
Director Alex Malone. “Season packages go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 15.”
The 2018-19 season features 18 shows with nationally and internationally known artists.
“Trey McLaughlin and the Sounds of Zamar will present a special performance of gospel
music, and vocalist Graeme James, who’s on his first U.S. tour all the way from New
Zealand, is making a stop here on our stage,” Malone said. “People will recognize
Mandy Harvey from ‘America’s Got Talent’ and Alex Preston, a finalist on ‘American
Idol.’ We are really becoming Clear Lake’s premier performing arts center.”
Purchasing a Premier Package is the best way for season ticket buyers to enjoy the
entire season most affordably. “You’ll get all 18 shows at the best price,” Malone
said. “And the greatest benefit to buying on June 15 is that you’ll get the best seats
on your preferred night for Roald Dahl’s ‘Willy Wonka,’ which is a full-scale musical
that we’re producing collaboratively with Bay Area Houston Ballet & Theatre.”
Malone said season packages are going on sale now so that theatergoers can plan their
schedules around the performances. “Another great benefit to buying a season package
is that you can swap the value of a ticket for another show if you need to,” he said.
“You’ll get the best seats for Trey McLaughlin and Sounds of Zamar as well as for
Rockapella, a groundbreaking a cappella group. A season package is the best way to
go.”
Longtime Clear Lake fan favorite Mercury will return for a four-concert series, including
a very special February presentation of “An Evening of Mozart Symphonies,” including
“Jupiter” as well as classics from Vivaldi, Paganini and Tchaikovsky.
“An expanded season like this would not be possible without a wonderful sponsor like
Opus Ocean Grille,” Malone said. “Their generosity enables the arts in Clear Lake
to continue to thrive.”
The Bayou Theater is highlighting the holidays with two of the most exciting performances
of the season. “Celebrate the holidays with family here at the theater,” Malone said.
“We have Annie Moses Band, a Juilliard-trained group of six siblings playing the highest
caliber of holiday bluegrass selections. And we’ve got Riders in the Sky, who have
been together for 40 years of playing music together. They’re the Grammy Award winning
group whose music you’ve heard watching ‘Toy Story 2’ or ‘Monsters, Inc.’ and they’re
celebrating a special cowboy comedy holiday event on our stage.”
Single tickets go on sale Aug. 1.
