UHCL Cyber Security Institute offers spring courses for IT professionals

Information security analysts are crucial to an organization’s security. With an average salary of $90,000 a year, this sector of Information Technology has excellent prospects for employment.

University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Cyber Security Institute is offering the opportunity for IT professionals to gain an edge with new knowledge and skills with professional training courses during the spring 2018 semester.

The four-week courses are part of the center’s Network Management and Security Certificate Program. The second session begins Feb. 16 with “Introduction to Network Technology.” In this course, students learn the foundations of networking at layers one through three of the OSI model. This is followed by “Cisco Routing and Switching” in March and “Network Security” in April. These last two courses build on foundational knowledge to focus more on network security.

Registration for spring classes is open. Class dates for “Introduction to Network Technology” are Feb. 16-17, 23-24 and March 2-3, 9-10, Fridays from 1-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Alumni, students, former or current UHCL students and veterans are eligible for a 30 percent discount during early-bird registration. Register and get more information by visiting the Network Management and Security Program online or by calling 281-283-3809.
