Art School for Children fall registration
University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Art School for Children is open for online fall
registration beginning Sept. 15. Students of all ages can express their creativity
while learning about culture, history and science in interactive art classes at UH-Clear
Lake.
Elementary age classes will draw inspiration from the art of China with planned lessons
on the Great Wall, gardens and the tale of the Magic Paint Brush. Students will craft
original artwork using clay, paint, pastels, markers and crayons. Advanced students
in grades 4-6 cover the history of Hawaii through drawing, painting and clay techniques.
Students in grades in 7-12 will learn to draw from observation with still life and
painting techniques.
Spots are available for students, ages 3½ to high school. Fees range from $100 to

Movie Night at UHCL: ‘The Incredibles 2’
Bring family and friends to follow everyone’s favorite family of superheroes to Movie
Night on Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Student Services and Classroom Building Lecture
Hall at University of Houston-Clear Lake. In “The Incredibles 2,” the Parrs try to
juggle family life and fighting off yet another villain. When Helen (Elastigirl) re-enters
hero work, Bob (Mr. Incredible) is left at home with Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack to
handle their “normal” life.
Admission is free to groups with any UHCL ID and $4 for all others. Free parking is

Leadership webinar series for teachers uses NASA mission principles
University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Center for Educational Programs offers a webinar
course for teachers that uses the foundations of NASA principles, coupled with the
science of change, to develop as a leader in the classroom.
In the webinar, “From Out Space to Inner Space: Teacher as Leader in the Classroom,”
educators can learn the qualities of professional excellence as used in NASA’s Mission
Control Center, as well as how to embody them using practices that blend both ancient
Eastern and modern scientific teachings.
The course begins Sept. 18, and continues Oct. 2, 9,16 and 23 online. It is designed
for teachers interested in increasing positive results both inside and outside the
classroom by increase their self-awareness. Fees are $85 for all six sessions. To

Cyber Security Institute:‘Introduction to Networking Technology’
The Cyber Security Institute at University of Houston-Clear Lake regularly offers
courses to provide research and education services to strengthen the community’s efforts
to secure cyberspace and cyber-systems. “Introduction to Networking Technology” takes
place Sept. 21, 22, 28 and 29, and Oct. 5, 6, 12 and 3, Fridays, 3-8 p.m. and Saturdays
9 a.m.- 2 p.m. in Delta Building, room 201.
Students who register will learn the foundations of networking at layers one through
three of the OSI model in hands-on labs. The course is the third part of the four-session
Network Management and Security certificate program. The fee is $1,300 and includes
