Hispanic Heritage Month at UHCL: Mexican WWII virtual exhibition

The Latinx and Latin American Studies students and faculty at University of Houston-Clear Lake are contributing to an online exhibition featuring Mexican World War II prints. The exhibit will soon be available online at the UHCL Art Gallery to offer your reactions to the art. Your responses will become part of a campuswide exhibition, reproduced alongside the prints and posted around the UHCL campus as well as at UHCL Pearland and UHCL Texas Medical Center. After contributing, you’re invited to join others via Zoom on Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. for a chat about the prints. Register for the Mexican WWII virtual exhibition online.

Habitat Work Days at UHCL

There are many opportunities to get involved with the Environmental Institute of Houston’s WaterSmart Habitat at University of Houston-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston. Whether you’re looking for community service hours or just a change of pace, we have the perfect place for you on the UHCL campus. Habitat volunteers weed and mulch flower beds, plant native plants, maintain pathways, and trim trees and bushes. Volunteers may also help clean out the pond on select days. Bring your own tools or use ours, but don’t forget to bring a water bottle and sunscreen and a hat. Groups are welcome. Volunteers meet Tuesdays 9-11 a.m. at the NOA I Building just inside Entrance 3 on Middlebrook Dr. Park in Lot D4. For more information, contact Wendy Reistle at 281-283-3045 or reistle@uhcl.edu
