Registration ongoing for foreign language classes

 Planning a trip overseas for work or pleasure? Interested in other cultures, or just ready to try something new? Registration for classes in the Foreign Language and English Enhancement Program at University of Houston-Clear Lake is still open.

Learn practical, conversational French, German, Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, or English enhancement in a small group in an informal, friendly setting.

Classes meet for 90 minutes once a week for six weeks, beginning Aug. 28. The course costs $156 for new students and $136 for returning students. All classes are offered noncredit, but Continuing Education Units can be earned for successfully completing the course. JSC Small Business Conference comes to UHCL

 Current and aspiring NASA contractors can catch up on new strategies and best practices from industry experts at the Johnson Space Center Small Business Conference, to be held Aug. 2 in the Bayou Theater at University of Houston-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston. UH-Clear Lake’s new President Ira K. Blake will be among the speakers, as well as CEO of Logical Innovations and UHCL alumna Denise Navarro, who is emceeing the conference.

Registration for this combination lecture-networking event is from 8-9 a.m. The speakers will share their industry insights with attendees in a morning and afternoon session from 9-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m. Between sessions, attendees will take a lunch break and go on a special tour of the acclaimed JSC History Collection, housed at the Alfred R. Neumann Library at UHCL. The conference will culminate in a networking/social reception from 4:30-6 p.m.
