December 8, 2020 | UHCL Staff

UHCL graduates in full regalia. One hat reads, "I know nothing with any certainty but the sight of the stars makes me dream, Vincent Van Gogh."

Over 1,050 University of Houston-Clear Lake fall 2020 graduates earned their degrees and will be recognized during a virtual ceremony on Dec. 12 at 4 p.m. Of those, 723 will be recognized for receiving their undergraduate degrees, and 331 will be recognized for receiving graduate degrees.

The College of Science and Engineering will confer degrees to 203 graduates, and the College of Human Sciences and Humanities will confer 255. The College of Education will confer 202 degrees, including three students who have earned doctorates, and 630 students in the College of Business will be honored with undergraduate and graduate diplomas.

Associate Professor in Exercise and Health Sciences William A. Amonette, a double UH-Clear Lake alumnus and executive director of UHCL's Health and Human Performance Institute, will deliver the commencement address.

This fall's candidates will join over 73,000 others who have graduated from the university. UHCL began as an upper-level university in 1974, admitting juniors, seniors and graduate students. The university expanded to admit underclassmen in 2014.

Due to concerns about the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the commencement ceremony will be held virtually. Learn more about the event online.
