Houston professionals collaborate at UHCL workshop to improve service for veteran students

Representatives from about 20 Houston-area colleges and universities exchanged ideas and educated each other on regulations affecting veteran benefits at the School Certifying Official Professional Development Workshop hosted by University of Houston-Clear Lake. The event featured presentations from the Texas Veterans Commission, the Veteran Affairs Liaison along with nonprofit organizations Wounded Warrior Project and Combined Arms to educate school-certifying officials, or SCOs, on services and policy updates that impact the processing of veteran benefits. The workshop provided a unique opportunity for SCOs from the Houston area to collaborate outside of larger national conferences to improve their service to veteran students. Representatives from San Jacinto College, University of Houston, Rice University, College of Health Care Professionals and others were in attendance.
