UHCL spring 2020 commencement ceremony to be held virtually July 17

More than 1,200 University of Houston-Clear Lake spring 2020 graduates earned their degrees in May and will be recognized during a virtual ceremony on July 17. Of those, 778 will be recognized for receiving bachelor’s degrees and 485 will be recognized for receiving master’s degrees.

The College of Science and Engineering will confer degrees to 303 graduates, and the College of Human Sciences and Humanities will honor 368.
The College of Education will confer 162 degrees, including 14 students who earned their doctorates, and 430 students will be honored by the College of Business with undergraduate and graduate diplomas.

UH-Clear Lake alumna Kelly Knighton, senior technical advisor in the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, will be delivering the commencement address. Knighton graduated summa cum laud with her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management with a concentration in industrial hygiene and safety. Ultimately, she became OSHA’s first female regional administrator for Region VI.

This spring’s candidates will join more 71,000 others who have graduated the university. UHCL began as an upper-level university in 1974, admitting juniors, seniors and graduate students. The university expanded to admit underclassmen in 2014.

Due to concerns about the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the commencement ceremony will be held virtually on July 17 at 6:30 p.m. Learn more about the event online
