UHCL's residence hall move-in will follow health guidelines

Student Housing and Residential Life at University of Houston-Clear Lake is gearing up to welcome Hawks back to campus Aug. 18-23, with new and returning Hawks ready to move into Hunter Hall. This semester, Hunter Hall Move-In Day will be as exciting as before, but with some adjustments to help make COVID-19 prevention a priority.

“Move-in day brings a lot of energy and fun, but it will look a little different than last year,” said Director of Student Housing and Residential Life Matthew Perry. “The day will be more staggered, taking place over the course of several days. Students will move in based upon their last name and the floor they will be living on, and all staff, students, family and friends must wear a mask. These safety measures will allow for everyone to practice social distancing throughout the process.”

Student Housing and Residential Life is committed to following CDC guidelines for the prevention of COVID-19 throughout the 2020-2021 academic year. Hunter Hall housing staff recommends students pack light, bringing only necessities like clothing, bedding and toiletries, and to bring cleaning supplies for their personal use. The residence hall will be deep cleaned regularly, and students will be encouraged daily to sanitize hands, wear masks and keep the appropriate social distance.

“In partnership with the students, our team is committed to providing a safe and healthy community where students can live, learn and engage,” Perry said. “Everyone’s health and safety is our number one priority. We look forward to a year filled with safe and meaningful student engagement.”
