‘868’ author’s visit to UHCL postponed

November 1, 2018 | Jim Townsend

Author and alumna Tina Farrell’s Nov. 5 book-signing event at University of Houston-Clear Lake has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Farrell recently published “868 The Sharecropper’s Son: The Story of A WWII American POW’s Life of Miracles,” which chronicles her father’s life, including his experiences as a soldier in the Pacific Theater. The number “868” was etched into Houston E. Lowe’s POW dog tag.

Farrell, who received UHCL’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 1998, earned her master’s in humanities in 1985 and her doctorate in education in 2009.
