A team of University of Houston-Clear Lake computer engineering students, in partnership with students from San Jacinto College North, recently took fourth place in NASA’s 2017 Swarmathon, moving up from sixth place in 2016 amid tougher competition.

STEM Challenge draws 29 teams to UHCL competition

Twenty-nine teams of 112 science, technology, engineering and mathematics students from area high schools, colleges and universities vied for scholarships, internships, quadcopters and other prizes at STEM Challenge 2017, hosted April 8 at University of Houston-Clear Lake. Two sponsoring companies invited nine students to apply for internships.

University of Houston-Clear Lake broke ground on two new buildings March 31, which, when complete, will help train a workforce prepared to tackle 21st century careers in the sciences, engineering and health. UHCL prof, students work with NASA to enhance exercise for astronauts

3-D printing unlocks Calculus at UHCL

University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Mathematics and Statistics Department recently acquired a 3-D printer to help students understand complex surfaces. Calculus involves three-dimensional objects that can be extremely difficult to visualize. Now the department can print 3-D surfaces, and students can see details that were previously inaccessible. Veteran alumna harnessing the power of stories

Sometimes a story can save a life. That’s what University of Houston-Clear Lake alumna T’Liza Kiel believes. She’s a National Guard veteran and Galveston native who understands the power of stories. She and her story are featured in the stage production “Telling: Houston,” and she hopes that by sharing her experiences she can assure other veterans that they are not alone.
