Army was only a minor interruption in pursuit of UHCL student's major

When Nikki Milutin was a junior at University of Houston-Clear Lake back in 2011, she decided to join the U.S. Army. She hoped to put off going on active duty until she completed her senior year, but was offered a job that wouldn’t wait for her. Since then, Milutin, her husband and two older children have moved four times and added two more children to their family. But she never gave up on completing her degree and at long last, she will graduate with a bachelor’s in psychology in December.

UHCL alumna brings autism services to Saudi Arabia

University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities is highly acclaimed for its success in supporting families and children who have an autism spectrum diagnosis. CADD Research Associate Loukia Tsami provides telehealth autism services to families of children with autism in Texas and internationally. Tsami has been working with UHCL alumna Sarah Al-Saleh, who completed her master’s in psychology in 2016. Al-Saleh is currently employed at the Prince Mohammad Bin Sultan Military Medical City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where she works with children on the autism spectrum.

Education helps student find his purpose, transforms life

Although Christopher Montez spent many years of his life incarcerated, he decided not to let his past define his future and began working on completing his education. He is currently completing the master’s degree in humanities that he began in University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Academics for Offenders program, which offers classes through the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the W.F. Ramsey Unit in Rosharon, Texas.

Targeting working professionals in the field of engineering and science, University of Houston-Clear Lake Pearland Campus is offering a master of science in engineering management beginning spring 2019. The engineering management degree, says Ki-Young Jeong, program chair and associate professor of engineering management, has one of the highest domestic student enrollments in UH-Clear Lake’s College of Science and Engineering.

An exhibition of art created by art faculty will be on display in University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Art Gallery, with an opening preview reception Nov.15 from 5-7 p.m. The exhibition opens Nov. 15 and runs through Dec. 18.
