EIH research yields high-impact data about dolphins in Galveston Bay

Researchers from the Environmental Institute of Houston at University of Houston-Clear Lake have published an article in the May edition of Estuaries and Coasts special issue. EIH Research Associate Kristi Fazioli co-authored “Short-Term Effects of Hurricane Harvey on Bottlenose Dolphins in Upper Galveston Bay, Texas” with Vanessa Mintzer of the Galveston Bay Foundation.

UHCL spring 2020 commencement ceremony to be held virtually July 17

Although more than 1,200 University of Houston-Clear Lake spring 2020 graduates earned their degrees in May, students will be recognized during a virtual ceremony on July 17. Of those, 778 will be recognized for receiving bachelor’s degrees and 485 will be recognized for receiving master’s degrees.

University of Houston-Clear Lake announces its transition from the online-only instruction of spring and summer to four flexible learning options for fall 2020. University of Houston-Clear Lake alumnus and best-selling author of “Crazy Rich Asians” Kevin Kwan is celebrating the release of his book “Sex and Vanity," on June 30. The story is an homage to E.M. Forster's “A Room with a View” that follows Lucie Churchill, daughter of an American-born Chinese mother and a New Yorker father.

Funds generated by the University of Houston-Clear Lake Alumni Association Program Development Endowment Fund faculty projects, student program development projects or to support programs that enhance the students’ educational experience. This year, because of changes resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the funds have been redirected to the Hawk Emergency Fund.

Nine-year-old budding artist Liam Lehnert has been spending part of his home quarantine time drawing, painting and gluing in front of a computer screen. He’s taking online classes at University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Art School for Children, and he has paid close attention to the instructions of Art School Director David Moya.
