University of Houston-Clear Lake Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering Youssef Hamidi is researching the use of silk-fiber composites as an alternative to glass- and carbon-fiber composites widely used in manufacturing.

UHCL, UTMB to co-host STEM teachers conference

More than 200 educators from over 20 school districts in the Houston-Galveston and surrounding areas are expected attend the annual Greater Houston Area STEM Conference on March 2, co-hosted by University of Houston-Clear Lake and University of Texas Medical Branch. The conference, titled “New Horizons and Innovations in STEM,” will feature concurrent presentations, state-of-the-art lab tours, and STEM-related exhibitors.

Undergraduate student researcher to present findings to legislators in Austin

Texas Undergraduate Research Day is an annual event that provides the opportunity for undergraduate students engaged in research to showcase how their work positively impacts Texas to state legislators. This year, Assistant Professor of Information Technology Lisa Lacher and her research assistant, senior Cydnee Biehl, were selected to represent University of Houston-Clear Lake at the Texas State Capitol Building at the event, themed “Transforming Texas through Undergraduate Research,” to be held in Austin on April 1.

University of Houston-Clear Lake senior and transfer student Matthew Helle didn’t have an easy time juggling a 60-hour work week, a family and rigorous college classes, but with the constant guidance and support of his transfer adviser, Kristi Rickman, he will graduate with his bachelor of science in computer information systems in May 2019.
