Small businesses are struggling due to COVID-19 concerns and are feeling the financial strain after having to close their doors to uphold social distancing practices recommended by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Associate Professor of Management Troy Voelker says a small business owner could mitigate a potentially devastating financial setback by considering some suggestions.

University of Houston-Clear Lake has moved fully to online instruction for the remainder of the semester so that students can complete their classes. Associate Professor of Sociology Amy Lucas realized that graduate students in the midst of internships would not be able to complete their required 500 hours unless she could adapt their programs to the current circumstances, so she came up with a plan to ensure students will complete their internships and graduate on time.

University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Psychological Services Clinic is presenting the 30th annual Emily G. Sutter Symposium for Mental and Behavioral Health on Friday, April 3 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The symposium, to be keynoted by Maureen Underwood, a licensed clinical social worker and nationally recognized expert on youth suicide prevention, will take place in the university’s Bayou Theater.
