Area educators flock to second annual STEM education conference

More than 200 area educators from 13 school districts across the region took advantage of the Greater Houston Area STEM Conference hosted by the University of Houston-Clear Lake and co-sponsored by University of Texas Medical Branch. The one-day event featured strategic presentations, hands-on activities and tours of state-of-the-art facilities. Also on hand were 29 STEM-related exhibitors displaying wares and answering questions. Featured keynote speaker Kenn Heydrick, the former Texas Education Agency Director of Science Curriculum addressed STEM education for the future. Post attendance surveys testify to the conference’s overall success with 95 percent of respondents reporting they plan to attend next year’s conference, and a like number reporting they have already shared information received at this year’s event.
