Call for sessions proposals for teacher STEM conference

The Greater Houston Area STEM Committee is now accepting session proposals for the “New Horizons and Innovations in STEM” conference to be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at University of Houston-Clear Lake. Proposals must be submitted by Jan. 31.

Hosted by UH-Clear Lake and UTMB Health, the conference brings together educators, researchers and exhibitors from around the Greater Houston Area to focus on topics that impact K-12 educational settings around science, technology, engineering and math. The 2017 event saw about 300 attendees.

Session proposals should be themed around:

  • Recruiting and developing effective STEM teachers.
  • Integrating STEM education within core subjects.
  • Foundations for STEM during early ages.
  • STEM activities for students.
  • Supplementing your STEM program: The importance of public and private partnerships.
  • Implementing Project-Based Learning within your curriculum.
  • Promoting STEM education while eliminating stereotypes.
