Charter faculty members reminisce in UHCL history panel

Members of UHCL's charter faculty recalled UHCL's early history in a panel discussion Monday, part of the President Ira K. Blake's Investiture Week celebration. They reminisced on the university's founding, when it was little more than an idea: "We were being asked to come to this institution and to start from scratch something that we were told we could put our thumbprint on, and make a difference to build something new and something appropriate for our community," said Professor Emeritus of Software Engineering Charles McKay, who also served as dean of the then School of Science and Computer Engineering until his retirement in 2006.
