Ecuadorean medical professionals visit UHCL

Sixteen medical professionals from Guayaquil, Ecuador visited University of Houston-Clear Lake April 9-11 for a symposium with the College of Business Department of Healthcare Administration. Guayaquil, with more than 2.5 million residents, is Ecuador’s largest city. The first day, the visiting doctors, surgeons and hospital administrators met with faculty and staff at UH-Clear Lake at Texas Medical Center to discuss health care quality, economics, marketing and reimbursements. The second day included a tour of the university’s Bay Area campus and a visit with university leaders, including College of Business Dean Edward R. Waller and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Steven J. Berberich (both shown center, standing). The third day included visits to Texas Medical Center hospitals. UHCL offers a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration, a Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Healthcare Services, a Master of Healthcare Administration, a dual MHA/MBA, and continuing-education certification programs for medical professionals.
