Faculty and students of the University of Houston-Clear Lake College of Education Counseling Program delivered boxes of donated shoes, coats and books they collected for the young children at Hollibrook Elementary School in the Spring Branch Independent School District. The school’s counselor, Juan Sosa-Tirado, is a 2015 graduate of the UHCL school counselor program. Many of the elementary school’s children are recent immigrants from Central America and Mexico. Several schoolchildren welcomed the visitors with delight and excitement over the donated gifts. Pictured from left are Assistant Professor of Counseling Angelica Tello, Assistant Professor of Counseling RJ Davis, Associate Professor and Coordinator of Counseling, Education Dilani Perera-Diltz, Sosa-Tirado and UHCL counseling student Amy Van Cise. Cise is vice president of Upsilon Chi Lambda, the local chapter of the honor society, Chi Sigma Iota, which promotes professional and academic excellence in counseling.
