UHCL to host NWS FloodAware program

Learn which specific weather factors meteorologists use to predict area flooding in Galveston-Houston National Weather Service’s FloodAware seminar, hosted by University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Office of Emergency Management & Fire Safety.

The free, public seminar is Wednesday, May 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m. in UH-Clear Lake’s STEM Building Lecture Hall, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston. Parking is free.

UHCL commencement ceremonies May 19

More than 1,200 University of Houston-Clear Lake students are expected to cross the stage at two commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 19, at NRG Arena, 1 NRG Park. Houston. A total of 715 will receive bachelor’s degrees; 479 will receive their master’s degree and 10 will receive their doctorate.

At noon, the College of Human Sciences and Humanities will confer degrees to 348 candidates, and the College of Science and Engineering will honor 301. At 5 p.m., 173 candidates in the College of Education will receive degrees, as will 382 in the College of Business.

Registration ongoing for UHCL summer camps

University of Houston-Clear Lake offers hands-on learning for area youths in more than 100 summer camps. Young students can learn about robotics, animation, photography, writing, blogging, nature, engineering and more.

Sign up for summer UHCL language courses

Learn a new language in University of Houston-Clear Lake’s non-credit Foreign Language and English Enhancement Program. Small classes and private tutoring are available for Spanish, Chinese, German, Japanese and Russian, as well as English enhancement for foreign professionals. Registration begins May 13 for classes that begin June 10.
