University of Houston-Clear Lake Pearland Campus hosted a Nursing Education Conference on Aug. 4, which drew more than 80 attendees who were either interested in pursuing a nursing career, or were interested in furthering their nursing career. “It does not matter if you graduated yesterday or if you graduated 20 years ago,” said Karen Alexander, professor of nursing and director of the RN-to-BSN program. Shown here, she pointed out to attendees that as registered nurses, their education focused on managing patients, not professional staff. “You’ve never had that true leadership and management component,” she said. “We are customized to deliver those tools for you, to put in your toolbox, to deliver patient care while in management and leadership role.” Several attendees applied for enrollment in UHCL’s RN-to-BSN degree program while at the conference.
