UHCL Pearland Campus is offering the community a firsthand look at its expanding campus
and educational opportunities at Open House, Nov. 3 From 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Future
students, their families and guests are invited for campus tours, and information
about admissions, financial aid and degree programs.
“Our goal is to make sure students have a smooth, convenient transition to UHCL Pearland
Campus,” said Tiffany King, interim associate director for admissions campus visits.
“This event is great opportunity for students to meet faculty who will be teaching
their courses and to familiarize themselves with their future campus.”
Students who attend the Open House can apply for admission to UHCL without an application
fee at the event with help from enrollment management counselors. Additionally, transfer
students and graduate students applying to select programs can bring official sealed
college transcripts and required test scores to be reviewed on the spot by admissions
counselors. This way, students do not have to wait for an admission decision and can
begin their next steps toward enrolling at UHCL immediately.
Campus tours will include information about the Health Sciences and Classroom Building,
set to open in spring 2019. It will house labs for chemistry, biology and health care
training along with classrooms, study spaces and large lecture hall.
The event presents a unique opportunity for Alvin Community College students to learn
about course offerings at UHCL Pearland. In July, UHCL and ACC built on their partnership to expand opportunities for students to take freshman- and sophomore-level courses
at UHCL Pearland, making it easier for ACC students to transition to a four-year degree
program at UHCL.
“ACC students have the opportunity to take classes at Pearland and finish their degrees
here, so we definitely encourage those students to come and learn more,” King said.
UHCL Pearland offers undergraduate degrees in accounting, management, behavioral sciences,
criminology, psychology, information technology (BAS), nursing (RN-to-BSN), and interdisciplinary
studies (with several certifications and certificate programs in ESL and special education).
Graduate students can pursue a master’s degree in behavioral sciences, criminology,
psychology, educational management (with principal and special education certifications),
counseling (with certifications in college counseling and licensed professional counseling),
as well as a doctorate in educational leadership. Engineering management will be offered
starting in spring 2019.
