UHCL honors veterans at ceremony

University of Houston-Clear Lake conferred degrees to 173 students in the College of Education and 382 students in the College of Business in 5 p.m. ceremonies on May 19 at NRG Arena in Houston.

Blake; Katelynn Rivardo, who delivered the Student Benediction; and John Whigham, who delivered the Student Alumni Induction. Shown below is President Blake and UHCL alumnus Michael Marquez, principal of McWhirter Elementary School in Clear Creek Independent School District, who delivered the 5 p.m. commencement address.
Another 649 graduated from the College of Human Sciences and Humanities and the College of Science and Engineering in a noon ceremony. In all, more than 1,200 students crossed the stage; 715 received bachelor's degrees, 479 received master's degrees and 10 received their doctorate. Also speaking in the 5 p.m. ceremony was University of Houston System Chancellor Renu Khator (pictured with President Blake below), who brought congratulations from UHCL's sister universities in the UH System.
