University of Houston-Clear Lake’s December 2019 commencement took place at noon and at 5 p.m. on Dec. 15 at NRG Arena in Houston. Candidates for graduation participated by leading the Pledge of Allegiance and invocation, giving the student address, inducting students into UH-Clear Lake’s Alumni Association, and giving the benediction.

Over 300 University of Houston-Clear Lake faculty, staff and alumni gathered on Oct. 12 to celebrate the university’s 45th year as the region’s leading institution of higher education, and to recognize Professor of Management Information Systems Vance Etnyre, who received the 2019 Outstanding Professor Award, as well as Mary Anne Brelinsky and Phyllis Saathoff-Oliver, recipients of the Early Achievement Award and the Distinguished Alumni Award, respectively.

Accounting student awarded national scholarship

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, created by Congress to oversee auditors of publicly traded U.S. companies, awarded a $10,000 merit-based scholarship to University of Houston-Clear Lake student Diyoni Apriliana, who is pursuing a Master of Science in Accounting and expects to graduate in December.
