Physicist Lisa Dyson will bring her vision of a sustainable future to University of Houston-Clear Lake’s public Physics Lecture Series on April 22. Her lecture, “NASA-Inspired Solutions to Climate Change (and Feeding 10B by 2050),” was the theme of a TED talk she presented in 2016 on how an idea developed in the 1960s could be the key to reinventing how we grow food and for creating a replenishable energy supply.
Program makes tuition more affordable for undergrad STEM students

University of Houston-Clear Lake undergraduates seeking a STEM degree may be eligible for a stipend of up to $2,000 per semester and $1,500 for summer courses thanks to the university’s participation in a grant collaboration with other Houston universities.

UHCL profs update comprehensive chemistry reference book, are nominated for award

“Larock’s Comprehensive Organic Transformations” was originally published in 1989. Its third edition, co-authored by a team of scientists including University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Assistant Professor of Chemistry Anton Dubrovskiy and his wife, Adjunct Chemistry Instructor Nataliya Markina, has been published and nominated for a PROSE award finalist in the Multivolume Reference/Science category.
UHCL students' video game 'Code of Aegis' wins educational award

For video-game fanatics, getting paid to play is the ultimate dream. While University of Houston-Clear Lake students majoring in digital media studies, didn’t actually get paid, they won a prestigious award for creating a video game titled “Code of Aegis” at the Interservice/Industry Training Simulation and Education Conference recently held in Orlando, Fla.

Undergraduate student researcher to present findings to legislators in Austin

Texas Undergraduate Research Day is an annual event that provides the opportunity for undergraduate students engaged in research to showcase how their work positively impacts Texas to state legislators. This year, Assistant Professor of Information Technology Lisa Lacher and her research assistant, senior Cydnee Biehl, were selected to represent University of Houston-Clear Lake at the Texas State Capitol Building at the event, themed “Transforming Texas through Undergraduate Research,” to be held in Austin on April 1.
UHCL hosts Chinese chemistry students at materials science workshop

University of Houston-Clear Lake’s College of Science and Engineering hosted 44 students and 10 instructor chaperones from one of China’s leading research institutes in a workshop for materials science chemistry that took place Jan. 25- Feb. 1. The students are from the College of Materials Sciences and Engineering at Jilin University in Changchun, capital of China’s northeast Jilin Province.
