Gigi Do has joined University of Houston-Clear Lake as assistant vice president for global learning and strategy and senior international officer. Do comes to UH-Clear Lake from the University of Texas at San Antonio and she said she chose her profession in higher education because of her own experience as an immigrant student in the U.S.

Nora Arriaga came to the United States as a young bride from Mexico in 1993. She did not speak much English, and she took a long time away from her education to raise her five children. After her children’s school librarian inspired to improve her English and begin a career teaching children, she returned to school, became proficient in English and will be walking across the stage this weekend to receive her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with an EC-6 Bilingual Supplement from University of Houston-Clear Lake.

Local credit union continues tradition of giving to UHCL autism center

Each year, employees at Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union make a special effort to support local education. GCEFCU has been a longstanding partner and sponsor of University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities and its outreaches. Since 2014, the credit union has donated $1,000 to CADD to support its programs and outreaches.
