For Jesus Guadarrama, receiving his bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies from University of Houston-Clear Lake and getting a teaching position in the same school district in which he grew up is a full-circle moment that did not come easily. He is the first in his family to graduate from college, and now, he’s able to do what he believes he was raised to do—give back to his community.

University of Houston-Clear Lake and United States International University in Nairobi have established a memorandum of understanding to collaborate through faculty and student exchange programs and to create research initiatives. Professor of Sociology Mike McMullen and Assistant Professor of Anthropology Dawit Woldu will depart on June 5 for Nairobi for a five-week visit to establish the partnership between the two universities.

Fernanda Oda came to the United States from Brazil to study behavior analysis at University of Houston-Clear Lake because she had heard it was one of the best programs in the country. Now equipped with her Master of Arts in Behavior Analysis, Oda said she feels more than prepared to begin her doctoral program at the University of Kansas in Lawrence this fall.
Local credit union continues tradition of giving to UHCL autism center

Each year, employees at Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union make a special effort to support local education. GCEFCU has been a longstanding partner and sponsor of University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities and its outreaches. Since 2014, the credit union has donated $1,000 to CADD to support its programs and outreaches.
